dlaczego mnie? bose!

I had one of those days. What's the opposite of providence? instead of a guiding hand, I had a divine saboteur. When things could go awry, they generally did; and with startling consistency. At about 11:30, I found myself desperately running across Wroclaw in the sun, to catch a train to one of my lessons. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon I catch a train to a small town called Brzeg, to teach two railway engineers. The school is meant to arrange the tickets, and I collect them at a little travel agency, not far from the school. Anyway, after reminding various people, I eventually found myself standing in an office, in front of lots of blank blinking faces sitting before computer screens, and having a conversation that went something like

"what ticket?"

"1208, Brzeg, prosze bardzo, please, I'm in a hurry"

"when go you want?"

"1208, now, 13 minutes from now, gotta go"

"sorry, could repeat please? in when?"

"Oh god."

Then frantically running across town, getting lost momentarily, swearing voluminously in the sun. I got the train, almost hyperventilated, sat in a sweaty euphoric daze for the whole 40 minute trip.

Lots of other annoying stuff happened. My train coming back was late. I had another lesson, back in Wroclaw, and had no time to spare. I boarded the train, and it proceeded to sit idly at the station for 30 minutes. Then finally, running to the school and making it, a few minutes late, and being told that the guy didn't show, and that my boss knew, had known for the last 10 minutes. Then receiving the text. So poetic. lyrical.

Jen is coming tomorrow! to Krakow. We'll drive over there in the afternoon, and meet her in the airport. We thought about meeting her in the traditional Polish way, with a platter of bread, salt, and a shot of vodka. The bread goes in the salt, then you take the vodka. But maybe flowers are more her thing.

Tobin, to co, kochanie, zatanczymy? means, well, darling, shall we dance? :)
